One of the biggest esports tournament organizer in India, Nodwin Gaming, have reportedly directed the team to remove ‘iQOO’ tag from their in-game names. This is because early this month, iQOO India became the sponsors for some of the biggest BGMI teams in the country and those team will now be donning their name.
The decision came in order to avoid any confusion during a tournament where casters and audience, both, can have a hard time telling what’s going on. This was reported by popular insider letsgrowesports on X (Twitter).
🚨Officially from Nodwin: Teams are asked to remove ‘IQOO’ from their IGN to avoid confusion for the casters and audience. However, they can use ‘IQOO’ in other places.

Team Soul was one of the early teams that started appearing as iQOOSoul across a recent BGMI esports event. Now, more teams are set to follow the same. The new teams include partnered with iQOO includes, 8Bit, Revenant XSpark, Reckoning Esports, Team Tamilas and Orangutan Gaming.

Besides, having to read the complete name paired with iQOO will likely be a bit of a hassle and can easily degrade the quality of casting. The issue was also previously raised by fans during the announcement of this new partnership of iQOO with BGMI orgs.
Only in-game names for BGMI teams affected
The restriction is only on the in-game name tags for players, apart from that, nothing else has been restricted. The teams can carry on with the iQOO branding across other things as usual, including the jersey, team logo, and other things under their contract.
Many people even suggested that the branding can also occur after the name which will also resolve the issue, however, it seems Nodwin has chosen to go the simple route. It also remains to be seen if other tournament organizers will follow their lead, or we will see six iQOO teams in BGMI tournaments.
