Nintendo says Switch 2 will cost something that consumers expect

With the Nintendo Switch 2 launch on the horizon, many people are wondering about its price. With a bigger display, new hardware, and a lot of new features, many assume the device may come with a hefty price tag. Lucky for the gaming community, the company revealed that the price will be something people expect from a Nintendo product.

Responding to a Q&A related to the investors, the company was asked about the pricing of Switch 2 given the recent inflation and exchange rate. Nintendo President, Shuntaro Furukawa, responded by saying the price isn’t currently decided, but it will be something that fans expect from Nintendo products.

“We are aware that, in addition to how inflation is currently proceeding, the exchange rate environment has also changed significantly since around the time we launched Nintendo Switch in 2017. We also need to consider the price range that consumers expect for Nintendo products,” Furukawa said.

Nintendo Switch 2 expected to launch at $400

The Nintendo Switch was priced at $300 on launch and despite all the time, the price never increased, apart from the OLED model which launched at $350. Now, multiple industry analysts believe that Switch 2 can launch around $400. While a decent bump, the upgrade in hardware justifies the increase and the price will also be highly competitive.

There are some concerns regarding inflation and mostly, the scalpers which can affect the pricing. Scalping hardware in recent days has been a huge problem as seen with the RTX 5090 launch. Nintendo is expected to be ready with enough stock to prevent this from happening on a large scale, but some devices will likely end up on this party website at eye-watering prices.

Will Nintendo Switch 2 be available in India?

Despite being available across various online stores, the original Nintendo Switch wasn’t officially launched in India. This may likely be the case as console gaming has the lowest market share in India compared to mobile or even PC. As such, the only option remaining is the third-party sellers that provide the devices but they aren’t covered by the warranty.
