It’s finally here! Nintendo has officially revealed the Switch 2 following multiple leaks. More details on the device and a solid release date are still left out for the upcoming Nintendo Direct, but fans did get to see the new Mario Kart game. The company also confirmed that users can put many old game cartridges from Switch and play the games on the new device.
The first-look video showcased how much the device has changed, featuring more connection ports and a bigger screen. Despite a lot of the things showcased in the trailer already being leaked previously, the video has crossed over 14 million views within a day.
As of now, there are currently no new games announced for the Nintendo Switch 2, however, the trailer also showcased Mario Kart 9 so there’s one game confirmed. Many are waiting for other games like Metroid Prime 4 and third-party ports for popular titles like Halo, and Elden Ring which are also rumoured to be coming on the new device.

Upcoming Nintendo Direct to reveal more about Switch 2
Technical specs for the device are still under wraps and will reportedly be revealed during the Nintendo Direct that will take place on April 2nd, 2025. Apart from the leaks regarding an Nvidia chip, there wasn’t much about the specification for the device so everyone is quite excited to soo how powerful the new device is.
Some people can also get a chance to get a hands-on experience with the Switch 2 before release. Nintendo is set to host the Switch 2 Experience across New York, Los Angeles, and Dallas where people can try out games on the latest device themselves.
The tickets are now live and free for everyone, with the participants selected randomly via a lucky draw. This is a great chance for people to try out the Switch 2 and compare the differences and how much performance uplift the new handheld provides compared to its predecessor.
