Nintendo finally speaks up regarding the ongoing leaks for their upcoming handheld console, Switch 2. The company is set to announce/reveal the successor for one of the most popular gaming device, however, the internet is already flooded with images and videos claiming to be the original design. Responding to that, Nintendo said ‘not official’.

Speaking to a Japanese publication, Sankei, Nintendo officials commented that the images and videos are not official. Several peripheral and accessory manufacturers have claimed that they received the final design for Switch 2 and showed everyone what the device will look like.

However, this response from Nintendo has made things interesting. While the statement was vague regarding how these images and videos are not official, it has created a mystery around the upcoming console once again. It is unknown if by ‘not official’ Nintendo meant they did not give permission to publish this information or if these leaks are completely fake.

Nintendo to announce Switch 2 this fiscal year

The wait for Switch 2 is just a few months away as the company last year announced that the official revealed will be coming this fiscal year. There weren’t many details except that the devices will have backward compatibility providing gamers a seamless transition.

The original device was released back in 2017 and has sold over 140 million units world worldwide to become one of the top-selling gaming consoles. Almost a decade later, Nintendo is set to release its successor and for now, there’s nothing more than rumors in terms of any details.

It will be funny if Nintendo changes the design ahead of the reveal and releases if the leaks are true. Although, it's very unlikely to happen this deep into development. For now, the company may simply be trying to stay away from the leaks.
