Unlike PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, which was a battle royale game in first or third person, PUBG: BLINDSPOT is a 5v5 tactical shooter with a very similar gameplay feeling to Rainbow Six Siege. However, there is one final twist, the game is played from a top-down perspective.
Since the game is being developed by PUBG Studios along with the ARC Team, players will find some familiar weapons, including the dreaded AKM and the beloved M416. Those who play tactical shooter games will know what to expect and how tactical games require good team coordination.
PUBG: BLINDSPOT demo available on Steam
Revealed as part of the Steam Next Fest, the game demo will also be available for those who want to try early, although the full release may also not be that far away. The demo features 10 characters with their signature weapons there are also multiple maps based on the game modes.
The core gameplay revolves around two teams, one will be defending while the other will be the attacker. Those wondering about the name ‘BLINDSPOT’ should know that despite being a top-down game, players only have a limited vision cone, meaning your opponent can walk right beside you if players fail the check each spot. This can lead to some interesting situations.
“PUBG STUDIOS chose the name PUBG: BLINDSPOT to reflect both the development philosophy and core gameplay elements. The PUBG brand in the title represents PUBG STUDIOS’ commitment to expanding into new genres, while BLINDSPOT signifies the game’s innovative blend of top-down shooting and vision-based tactical play, offering players a fresh and engaging experience,” Krafton said.
Is PUBG: BLINDSPOT free to play?
While the Demo for PUBG: BLINDSPOT is free and currently available for everyone to try, details regarding the full release, however, are yet to be revealed. The original PUBG was a paid game on release but managed to break several records. This one also features some interesting concepts so it’ll be interesting to see what Krafton plans to do.
