Microsoft is now handing out refunds to people who purchased the Bite Back edition of Redfall. This comes after the company recently shut down Arkane Austin, the development studio behind the game that was shuttered during its lay-off wave alongside another popular studio, Tango Gameworks.
With the studio shutting down, the game received one final major update which would allow the players to play the game offline. However, since the game did not do well and the entire studio was let go, Microsoft does not plan to continue support for Redfall. As a result, players who were promised additional DLC are being handed refunds. These refunds were previously announced, but are now rolling out for everyone.

Microsoft handing automatic refunds for digital purchases
Players don’t need to worry about refunds as the company has reportedly been forced to refund the amount of DLC. From the looks of it, the refund is being credited to their Xbox and Steam accounts, which players can use to purchase other games. Players with physical copies can also get a refund, however, they will need to contact Bethesda.
While this is a good move from the company, the current situation should not have occurred in the first place, had Redfall been a single-player game from the beginning. The game was developed by a team specializing in single-player titles and made some bangers like the Dishonored series, Prey and Deathloop.
Redfall, as we know, was a live service game that launched in a disappointing state with almost no content and a flood of game-breaking but hilarious bugs. There have been cases of other botched releases like Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man’s Sky, however, they did redeem themselves. Sadly for Redfall, this wasn’t the case, as the studio wasn’t given a chance.
