Another hotfix for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PC port is now available, making further stability improvements to the game. This is the second hotfix for the game within a week since the launch on January 30th, which saw players complain about various issues which resulted in some unfavorable reviews for the game.

“This update contains various crash fixes and changes aimed at further improving game stability. This patch also resolves a bug that prevented some players from getting Achievements. Affected players will unlock those Achievements retroactively after updating the game and loading a save file,” the patch notes said.

The game was highly rated on its PS5 launch back in 2023 and fans were hoping to see Insomniac Games bring their magic on PC once again. Sadly, the players were met with a rare miss, with multiple crashes and bugs. The PC port for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was heavily criticized and currently sits at a ‘Mixed’ rating on Steam.

Insomniac working on further improvements

Pushing two hotfixes in succession does tell that devs are working to get rid of all stability issues as soon as possible. After all, what’s the point of purchasing the game when gamers can’t play it properly on launch. The patch notes also state that the QA team along with the developers working on further improvements based on the player feedback.

A similar issue was also noted with the Final Fantasy 7 rebirth PC port by Square Enix, however, the crashes and soft lock seem to be much more prevalent in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Hopefully, the next few updates will bring the game to a much better state.

Is Sony going back to single-player games?

Last Year, Sony was all aboard the live-service train while still maintaining the single-player catalog for PlayStation. However, multiple cancellations for live-service games in development, even before the announcement paint a different picture. This has left fans wondering if Sony is going back to the old ways.

However, there has been no official communication in this regard. As far as the facts go, the company still has multiple other live-service games at work including an online Horizon game and Bungie’s Marathon.
