The nominees for the DICE Awards 2025 have been revealed and Marvel Rivals has made it to the list of the nominees for Online Game of the Year. Taking the news on X (Twitter), the Executive Producer of Marvel Rivals, Danny Koo, expressed his gratitude towards the fans and the community for giving them this opportunity.

“Happy to announce that Marvel Rivals is nominated for Online Game of the Year for the DICE Awards! Thank you everyone for their support especially Official AIAS members for the honors!! Let's get it done!” Koo wrote. Hours later, an official announcement from Marvel Rivals across social media expressed a similar sentiment.

There are many reasons why the game became popular so quickly, the free-to-play model, permanent battle pass, iconic characters, fast-paced gameplay, no role queue, and more. This allowed players to cure the hero shooter itch they had for a long time.

Impressive journey for a month-old game

Marvel Rivals launched just a month ago and reached 20 million players globally. The developers recently launched the game's first season, which is reportedly twice the size it should have been. Season 1 brought four new characters, maps, and game modes as a thanks to the community.

The game also broke its previous player count with the release of season one. While developers have already informed everyone that the upcoming season will be half the size, players are still hyped following recent leaks that claim more characters from, X-Men are set to take the stage.

The new characters include some new names from the Marvel universe but also have popular characters like Professor X and Cyclops. Since the upcoming season will have half the amount of characters (presumably 2), it’s best to release one popular character and one lesser-known character to strike a balance.
