League of Legends players puts up a petition to remove current Riot Games CEO

Riot Games recently has been facing a ton of backlash from the League of Legends community. The complaints revolve around low-quality cosmetics with increasingly aggressive monetization. The biggest uproar started after Riot Games announced the removal of Hextech Chests, the main source of free cosmetics for many players.

At the center of all this is Riot's CEO, ‘Dylan Jadeja’, who players believe is the reason behind all these changes. The situation worsened as League players are now signing a petition to get Jadeja removed from his role. Spotted by DotEsports, the petition now has over 36,000 supporters.

“Under the leadership of Dylan Jadeja, the game has been going downhill at an unprecedented rate. Riot Games has made decision after decision that prioritizes profits over player experience, and the community is tired of being ignored and treated like complete idiots who they only see as numbers to get money from,” the petition reads.

LoL players point out changes after Jadeja took over as Riot CEO

The massive backlash was not out of a whim as the petition also lists some major changes after Jadeja was announced as the CEO. The Layoffs, introduction of $500 Hall of Legends skins, Removal of Honor Capsules and Orbs, introduction of a gacha system, and a lot more.

These changes aren’t necessarily due to Jadeja and could be planned even before that, however, the removal of Hextech Chests became the snapping moment for players. As of now, players simply want how the game used to be at a time when it’s becoming more and more frustrating for free-to-play players.

Will the petition be effective?

It’s hard to tell if the petition will have any effect, but this serves as a great way for the community to showcase their frustration. League of Legends is one of the biggest games globally with millions of players. The petition in itself says that a couple of thousand signatures won’t do anything, however, it will help the players be heard.
