Killing Floor 3, the popular zombie horde shooter franchise, recently concluded its closed beta test and was all set to launch on March 25th. However, the studio behind the game ‘Tripwire Interactive’ has announced a last-minute delay. This decision came after a majority of players complained about the game following the conclusion of closed beta.
“We've made the decision to postpone Killing Floor 3's launch to an undecided date later in 2025. After taking the time to gather and discuss feedback from our recent closed beta, we've realized that we missed the mark. Our goal isn't just to make Killing Floor 3 an ambitious step forward for the franchise, but also to maintain the core experience that you've come to know and love,” Tripwire wrote in its statement.
Tripwire making some much-needed changes
A big part of the complaints was that Killing Floor 3 did not feel like Killing Floor. Performance and connectivity aside, the gameplay elements were reported to be major disappointments from the community. Weapons did not feel powerful enough, glory kills were underwhelming, and players had complaints about restrictive gameplay.
Assessing the situation and the potential of the game facing massive backlash on launch, the developers responded quickly. “With the full support of our parent company, Embracer Group, we're working together on a timeline to address many of the common issues players had during the beta. While it's too early to say which fixes will be implemented by launch, we can confirm that an update allowing you to independently select your perk class and character is planned for post-release,” the statement added.

Killing Floor fans happy with the delay
This is one of the few instances when gamers are happy with the developer delaying the game. Over the last year, people have complained that companies do not listen to player complaints. Now that Tripwire is making changes, fans don’t mind the dealy as long as the game turns out well. The delay also resulted in the cancellation of all pre-orders, which gives Tripwire another reason to work hard.
