The BGMI Masters Series (BGMS) Season 3 has been going on for almost a week now and recently concluded it Opening Week. The intense gameplay continues with the added thrill from the score modifier, which is a new addition this year to encourage player interactions.

However, despite all the action every day, the event has been a little lacklustre for some reason. The number of viewers, production quality and other things are falling behind the previous two seasons of BGMS and the recently concluded BGIS 2024. Another major thing to notice is the lower amount of prize pool. This is the lowest it has been since BGMS started.

There could be multiple reasons as to why it might be happening. The tournament is also currently in a sort of Group Stage phase, which usually tends to have a low amount of viewership. The Grand Finals may most likely bring in big numbers as fans pour in to cheer for their favourite teams like Team Soul.

Why does BGMS S3 feel off?

First off, the viewership has been low and while not bad, it is lower than expected for BGMS Season 3. While it is understood that the teams are still qualifying for the Grand Finals, the recent BGIS 2024 Wild Card and Semifinals stages in comparison were very popular with Grand Finals crossing expectations.

Another factor that might be preventing the games themselves. Season 1 of BGMS featured four matches each day which led fans to hope that their team will do better in the next one. Season 2 was one match shy but still had three games each day which was acceptable and helped the stream run longer, allowing more players to join in.

The Season 3 is featuring two matches each day, which isn’t enough. The new Powerplay and other modifiers that allow bonus points are making the games much faster with early fights that are affecting the endgame. Many popular teams that have a huge fanbase are sometimes playing just a single match and fans refuse to watch the event beyond that.

Adding to that is the scoreboard which can be hard to understand as it displays the total points and game points. Furthermore, it also does not properly tell the elimination position and how much bonus a team have banked each game. One last factor could be the advertisements, however, it is likely to have the least effect on the event viewership.
