How to start the new Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC?

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is now available for everyone and players have jumped right back into the game, be it veterans or new players who are to experience Elden Ring for the first time. The Expansion is also getting high praise from everyone.

The game has brought more than half of the player base back with a single DLC on Steam, which is insane and an achievement in itself. The numbers are getting close to 600k, with the peak players being just over 950k during the release.

However, those who are out of the loop may find it harder to access the DLC content, after all, the entire new area of Shadow of the Erdtree is hidden behind a brutal boss fight that most are sure they have defeated, but as per the steam statistics, only half of them have actually done it. We are talking about Lord of Blood, Mogh The Omen. Players need to defeat Mogh to enter the Shadow of the Erdtree. However, this is where many players might have got confused.

There are actually two fights with Mogh, one of the encounters is in the underground sewer area of Leyndell Royal Capital, which might be the reason why many might think they defeated Mogh but still did not get access to the new area. To get access to the DLC area, players need to defeat the actual Mogh at the Mohgwyn Palace.

How to get to the Mohgwyn Palace?

There are two ways a player can reach Mohgwyn Palace. The easiest one is to follow White Mask Varré’s quest which will give you direct access to the Mohgwyn Palace quite early. Another way to enter the Palace comes later in the game through the Consecrated Snowfield. After defeating Mogh, players can interact with Miquella's Cocoon and enter Shadow of the Erdtree.

Players who want to jump into the new content as soon as possible should complete the Varré’s quest. The new area features new enemies and a levelling system, so players who think they can level up and become strong before visiting the new area are in for a treat as they will most likely be dragged around the same as the others.

Players who haven’t fought this Mogh need to know that this fight will not be an easy one. Mogh can get really annoying with his attacks that can build up the bleed. Alongside that, there is a special attraction that heals Mogh and damages you, and there is only one way to negate that.
