Baldur's Gate 3

The 2023 Game of The Year, Baldur’s Gate 3, was praised globally. Sadly, a fake mobile port of the game has now been spotted on the Apple App Store. The popularity of the game has brought in some bad actors who are trying to dupe gamers who want to play the game but they don't necessarily have the means.

Baldur’s Gate 3 launched across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. However, videogamer spotted the imposed across the App Store under the name Baldur’s Gate 3 Turuk, published by Dmytri Turuk. Any person who has been following the game would immediately know it was a scam as the original developers and publisher of the game is Larian Studios.

Sadly, not everyone is aware and those who simply heard the game was good and will likely be duped. The fake app is free to download, however, upon opening the app, it reportedly asks for a subscription, costing $30 a month to play the game.

Once the payment is done, players are still not able to enter the game which happens with these scam apps. The app does everything to convince players and even has screenshots of the game with an overlay for touch controls and even poster the image of a popular character from the game.

Beware of Fake Baldur’s Gate 3

The scam was released last year in October and 15 people have rated the game 1*, meaning these players might have been duped. Thankful, it seems many others were quick to realize and did their research before installing the app. What’s strange is that the app seems to be available despite engaging in illegal practice.

This further tells how easy it is to upload an app on the official App Store. Recently, similar games ripping off Black Myth Wukong were also spotted across the Nintendo Store which at least had a working game, despite trying to ride the popularity wave. Mobile gamers are highly advised to do complete research before installing a popular game released on PC.
