Game industry analyst believe GTA 6 release may tank some companies

There is a popular belief that some of the most anticipated AAA games are bound to see a delay. However, Take-Two has been very vocal about not having one for GTA 6 (for now). Sadly, there’s also no news on a firm release date and an industry analyst believes that this can translate into some hard times for a few companies who are also planning to release a game.

In an interview with PC Gamer, gaming industry analyst and director of consulting at Newzoo, ‘Ben Porter’, expressed his views on GTA 6 and how its potential delay can be a disaster for gaming companies. Since there is no release date for GTA 6, apart from the Fall 2025 release window, wrong guesses can cause problems across the board.

“If you're a game company who's holding its breath waiting for GTA 6 to get out, and then it gets delayed by three, four, five, or six months, what do you do? You either have to be able to launch into that big black hole that's been left open now, or you have to extend your run rate by an additional six months—I'm certain some companies are going to tank as a result of that, right?” Porter said.

Gaming companies looking to get out of GTA 6’s way

Regardless of release year, GTA 6 is going to be a massive deal for the game industry. With just a single trailer, the excitement for the game is off the charts and industry experts have already made predictions that the game will break every record.

Rockstar Games is going to be in a lot of headlines and no one is looking to get in their way. Porter further said that GTA 6 will pull eyes toward the gaming industry, bringing many potential investors. However, even after getting a golden chance, those who were questioned are looking to get out of the way.

“It will certainly have an effect. It will put eyes back on the games market from investors and things like that. But everybody that we're talking to, they're ships trying to move out of the way of this big iceberg that is GTA 6,” Porter further added.

No news from Rockstar Games

Releasing the game early or making a delay, companies seem to have it bad regardless. Companies can make all the release predictions but Rockstar Games is yet to reveal more about GTA 6 including a new trailer and release date. And even if people get a date, delays can also happen last moment.
