AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4) is real and comes with the RX 9070 series graphics card. Sadly, it seems that the feature is exclusive to the RDNA 4 architecture unlike FSR 3 which is available across a range of devices. More details regarding the tech are expected to be revealed during the upcoming CES 2025 presentation.

First noted by videocardz, the new FSR 4 will be leaning heavily towards machine learning upscaling. All the features from FSR like upscaling, frame generation, and latency gas reportedly being updated, however, to know more about what’s changing, fans will have to catch the presentation.

What is confirmed is that the tech is seemingly exclusive with RX 9070 or RX 9070 XT and the first game to receive this upgrade will be Call of Duty Balck Ops 6. The exclusive tag was spotted in a game poster which mentions FSR 4 is ‘Only’ available with an AMD Radeon RX 9070 series graphics card.

Fans excited to see how FSR 4 compares to DLSS 4

Nvidia is also set to unveil DLSS 4 and this time fans are excited to see the competition between the two. Past iterations of FSR were available across all GPUs, and this will be the first time gamers have to choose which GPU they will be moving ahead.

Nvidia will be revealing their flagship and enthusiast GPUs like the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5070 Ti during the CES presentation along with prices which will most likely suggest what the entry-level and mid-range GPUs will cost.

Techs like DLSS, FSR, and XeSS are sadly a necessity for modern-day AAA gaming, especially in the budget and mid-range segment of graphics cards. AMD GPUs are reportedly targeting the same market and if they can provide good competition with new cards at a reasonable price, it could work in their favor.
