Fortnite to increase V-Bucks prices in select countries starting October 2024

One of the longest-running and most popular battle royale titles, Fortnite, is getting a price hike for its in-game currency V-Bucks. The latest update from an official Blog Post revealed that starting October 14, six countries including Brazil and Vietnam will see a price hike for V-Bucks and content packs in Fortnite.

“Starting October 14, 2024, we are adjusting the price of V-Bucks and our real money content Pack offers in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Nigeria, Vietnam, and the Philippines. These adjustments are based on economic factors such as inflation and currency fluctuations and follow similar adjustments made last year,” as per the official statement from Epic Games.

This, however, isn’t any form of bias towards players from these countries. Last year, the company increased prices of V-Bucks for Denmark, Eurozone, Japan, Poland, Sweden and even the United States. Video games regularly update prices as per economic factors, and even full-priced video games from big companies see price increases.

One important thing to note is that the changes do not affect the Fortnite Crew subscription. Players who are mainly subscribed to this can rest easy. The Fortnite Crew is a subscription package that provides players with V-Bucks, Battle Pass, characters and other items each season for a small price.

The company also emphasised that while these are the initial countries with price changes, they will also increase for others shortly. “We plan to make pricing adjustments around the world on a more regular basis, to better respond to these economic factors,” they added. It seems that every big gaming company is now pushing their subscription model.
