Warner Bros. Games scrapped a new video game using The Flash as the main character following the unsatisfactory reception of the 2023 DCEU film. Warner Bros. is currently suffering from the fallout from several recent failing titles, including Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, when the news of the banned Flash project breaks.
Undoubtedly, The Flash is a highly identifiable character and one of the most significant superheroes in DC's extensive history. In the eight decades that the speedster has been around, he has been a major character in several comics, video games, films, and other media. Due to the popularity of the Justice games and the long-running TV series of the same name that ended in 2023, The Flash has seen a significant success in the last ten years.
Despite this, the Justice League character's attempts to revitalize the DCEU, which is run by Warner Bros., and play a significant part in the studio's film industry have not been successful. The superhero's shortcomings in that area seem to have negatively affected his prospects of receiving his own video game, which is concerning. The Gotham Knights studio Warner Bros. Montreal was considering an undisclosed video game based on The Flash, but Bloomberg reports that it was shelved some time ago.
The decision was reportedly prompted by DCEU's The Flash's subpar June 2023 performance, indicating that the project was abandoned at some point in the previous year and a half. The insider also disclosed that WB Montreal became interested in creating a game that focused on Flash after being presented with the option to choose between the Joker, a well-known Batman villain, and the Scarlet Speedster. The same thing occurred after Warner Bros. Games rejected a game concept about the non-mainstream DC character John Constantine.

Warner Bros developing Wonder Woman
Since the Flash game was canceled, several leads at the Canadian firm have reportedly quit because of a 'lack of new games' and 'frustration with their corporate bosses.' Following the cancellation of their Flash game, Warner Bros. Montreal is said to have been supporting Monolith's Wonder Woman game development, which was initially unveiled in late 2021.
Warner Bros. Games hopes that, if Wonder Woman ever makes it to market, it will take a different approach than its other recent releases, including MultiVersus, which is scheduled to stop supporting servers in May 2025. There are whispers that another significant DC character may eventually receive his own video game, in addition to the upcoming Wonder Woman project.
