Ubisoft has finally added 60 frames per second compatibility to Far Cry 4 on the PlayStation 5 with a surprise new update. Far Cry 4, the most recent Ubisoft game to receive a surprise update that improves the game on modern systems, was first released in 2014 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.

Among the many other games, like Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, and Splinter Cell, Far Cry is one of the studio's most well-known and cherished franchises. The fact that Ubisoft is bringing new games to the franchise is not shocking, but fans are a little taken aback by the company's support for previous games.

While a new update of Far Cry 4 is now available on the PlayStation 5, suggesting that Ubisoft is still clearly devoted to earlier entries in the series, even though whispers of a possible Far Cry 7 are still circulating. Fans playing on the current generation platform may now download Patch 1.08, which adds support for 60 frames per second. The update was released barely a few weeks after Ubisoft accidentally banned nudity in Far Cry 4 after releasing a fresh version.

Xbox Series X/S has not received update

Fans of Far Cry 4 were perplexed on April 3 when the game, which is eleven years old, got an enigmatic update that eliminated all nudity. Not long after the update was made public, a Ubisoft official confirmed on Reddit that it was a "mistake."  Content created especially for the Japanese edition of Far Cry 4 was inadvertently added to the global version of the game on Steam, according to Ubisoft. Ubisoft has subsequently corrected the error and said that there are currently no intentions to censor Far Cry 4.

Although the Xbox Series X/S cannot receive the update, Far Cry 4 has supported 60 frames per second on the most recent Xbox systems since 2021 because of Microsoft's FPS boost function. Previously restricted to 30 frames per second, PlayStation 5 owners may now experience a significant improvement by installing the most recent patch. Ubisoft has begun adding Steam achievements to games like Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Far Cry 5, and more.
