The PlayStation 2 might be a relic of the past, but the console still holds a special place to gamers from that era. A new video recently surfaced showcasing what many termed as the graveyard for PS2 video games. Thousands of video game DVDs simply lying around as the gaming companies moved on to latest consoles.
Shared by Reddit user KarqUwU, the video showcased an abandoned shop which was probably one of the stores. The video games discs, however, weren’t originals but bootleg version which were pretty common in Third World countries as another user pointed out.

“Fun fact, up until the point the internet was starting to become a thing in Iraq, none of us knew the DVDs we were getting were bootlegs, we paid 0.3-1.0USD per game. I believe the hardware was pre-modified before purchase,” the comment revealed. Regardless of what kind, they remain as a part of history for the gaming community.

PS2 still remains the best-selling console
The PlayStation 2 was released back in 2000 and to this date, it remains the best-selling video game console, with over 160 million units sold. While others like Nintendo DS and Nintendo Switch comes close, PS2 still holds the crown. This further makes it clear why the gamers were so emotional after watching a scene like that.
Not only PS2, but old hardware in general is quite beloved by the community. “It always amazes me how everyone in the world love video games, no difference in religion, ethnicity or culture, everybody like them,” another user said.
Many companies are now in talks to revive old franchises, either through remakes or sequels. The announcement were very well received by gamers and with recent remake like the Dead Space and Silent Hill 2, the confidence for a good remake is high.
