Epic Games is close to reaching 300 million players

After some rough early years, Epic Games Store has managed to reach 295 million users in 2024. This comes as a huge success for the company after launching the store back in 2018. The revenue also looks great as Epic reported PC users spent over $1 billion last year, a 15% increase although the third-party spending saw a decrease of 18%.

This rapid increase in the numbers for Epic Games is due to multiple factors working together. Over the last two years, the number of PC gamers has significantly increased. With Epic offering one of the most popular online games while also giving away free games, it’s hard for gamers not to resist and join others.

Speaking of free games, Epic Games also gave away 89 games last year including some big hits as per the year-in review. The company has decided to continue the trend in 2025 with more free games which is incredible news for gamers.

Epic Games Store to add a gifting option

One of the most requested features from users was the ability to gift games to their friends or other users. This comes in quite handy when people want to give others a surprise and was something absent from Epic which put them at a disadvantage against the rival gaming platform Steam.

“Sharing is caring, particularly when it comes to gaming, and so in 2025, we’ll be adding gifting to our list of purchase options!” Epic Games wrote. There are also a lot of app improvements coming this year including a new download manager to eliminate the current complaints and the ability to Pre-Loading games.

Mobile platform to get more attention in 2025

Ever since Epic Games won the legal battle against Apple, the company has been putting a lot of focus on improving its mobile application. 2025 also adds the mobile store into the roadmap with an improved catalog, app library, and a lot more. Full details on all improvements will be revealed soon.
