Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024 announcements (Image - gamescom)
Gamescom Opening Night Live brought revealed a lot of new gaming titles that had the fans hyped, alongside many other official release dates and gameplay reveal for some of the anticipated titles. While the list is quite long, there were a few titles that caught the eyes of all the fans, including a new Borderlands game and a standalone Dying Light title from Techland.
Here are the top five reveals for Gamescom 2024
5. Directive 8020
Not much was revealed for Directive 8020 apart from the fact that the game will be a cinematic horror experience, starting Lashana Lynch. The game is set in space with some form of mutation spreading. The initial impressions are similar to dead space, but the cinematic story experience adds much more to the game. It is set to come out sometime in 2025.

4. Reanimal
Developed by Tarsier Studios, who are well-known for Little Nightmares, Reanimal is another horror entry telling a story of brother and sister planning to rescue their friends. The game will be releasing on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X and can be played solo or with a friend.
3. Borderlands 4 reveal
Talk about a dry teaser, a new Borderlands game was expected by many, but the official announcement came at Gamescom with a short teaser. The new game looks like it’s going interdimensional, but more details are yet to be revealed. With a release of 2025, players will get to experience the fourth instalment for one of the longest running looter shooter franchise.
2. Dying Light: The Beast
A DLC turned into a standalone game, Dying Light: The Beast, brings back Kyle Crane from the original Dying Light. After years of experimentation, Crane is out for blood, and it seems players may get some new abilities. The developers revealed that the game will have over 20 hours of content with new open area and will be free for all Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition holders.
1. Mafia: The Old Country
Possibly one of the biggest reveal alongside Dying Light, Mafia: The Old Country will be taking the series back to the roots. The story is set in story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily and will focus on origins with focus on storytelling. The last mainline entry came out in 2016 and the new one is set to release next year.
