The online multiplayer installment, Resident Evil Re:Verse is being shut down by Capcom. Released back in 2022 as part of Resident Evil Village, the game was a PvP experience with a few different maps. Despite being a different game, it was given away for free as a part of the RE Village bundle to everyone who purchased the game.

Advertisment

“Resident Evil Re:Verse was developed in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series, and your overwhelming support for the game has far exceeded our expectations since the time of its release. Now that we've reached a new turning point for the series, we feel that Resident Evil Re:Verse has served its original, celebratory purpose admirably,” the official statement said.

Servers for Resident Evil Re:Verse will be shutting down on June 29, 2025. The sale of the game and all related DLCs will stop starting March 3 across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Steam, and the game will be delisted.

Resident Evil Re:Verse failed to capture players’ attention

Re:Verse was a completely different take on the Resident Evil franchise with players going against each other as various characters from the franchise. Players would be dropped in a six-player lobby, leaving everyone to defend themselves, however, this is where the core issues started.

While the game had a good concept, the execution was poor. The players complained about balance issues with some characters being too powerful while others were falling short. Another big complaint was the server issue and high latency while playing. As of now, the game sits at a Mostly Negative rating.

Can you play Resident Evil Re:Verse offline?

Unfortunately, Resident Evil Re:Verse was designed to be played online. Once the servers are taken down, the game will become unplayable. Along with that, players will also lose access to all content, the decision for which is being heavily criticized by the community. Few others hope Capcom can further expand upon the idea to make a better game in the future.
