The studio behind Days Gone, Bend Studio, has reportedly removed multiple job listings. This came following the recent cancellation of one of the live service games by PlayStation that the studio was in charge of development. Nothing else about the game was revealed publicly by Sony.

Advertisment

As noted by Thegamer, seven lob listings were removed by the company which is believed to be due to the game being cancelled. Bend Studio along with Bluepoint Games were developing two more live-service games including one from the God of War franchise.

With the removal of the job listing, Bend Studio has effectively halted its hiring operations. Following the cancellations of the two games, it was reported that Sony does not plan to close down any of the studios similar to Firewalk following the failure of Concord.

Instead, the company plans on discussing future projects. However, a complete stop to hiring does raise a question about what PlayStation plans to do with Bend Studio. Hopefully, this will not add to the increasing number of layoffs in the video game industry considering the game was ditched even before it was revealed.

PlayStation’s live-service push already on shaky grounds

Concord saw a disastrous launch leading to the closure of Firewalk Studious. The last game by the Bend Studio, Days Gone was a relatively successful single-player. While it wasn’t bad, it also didn’t get as much attention as other games by PlayStation Studious.

Sony recently announced that the company had multiple live-service games in development and isn’t planning to shy away from going down this path. With the recent setback across two games, it remains to be seen how many of the first-party live service games will see the light of the day.
