Assassin's Creed Shadows recently faced another delay to its release, mostly due to the devs working on improving the game based on feedback. The game is now set to release on March 20th, however, some details regarding the free expansion Ubisoft announced back in 2024 during the first delay have seemingly leaked.
“Pre-purchase now to get a bonus mission and the upcoming Claws of Awaji expansion. Travel to a new region, get over 10 hours of additional content, and unlock a new weapon type, new skills, gear, and abilities,” the new description read on the Steam page as per Insider Gaming.
However, at the time of writing, the statement regarding the DLC has been removed from existence and there is also no option to pre-purchase the game. Likely, the information was accidentally updated as the game was set to release on February 14th, but Ubisoft delayed the game.
The free DLC was part of the compensation for the delay and will be given out to everyone pre-purchasing the game. As far as gamers are concerned, 10+ hours of story is a big plus if Ubisoft manages to pull a miracle and make a game like they used to.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is an important release for Ubisoft
Ubisoft is on the verge of collapsing with stock price being at an all-time low in the past few years. The company has now assigned advisors to pursue “various transformational strategic and capitalistic options” and will work on cost reduction to put themselves in a better position.
A big part of that also depends on the sale of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is why Ubisoft seems to be taking things seriously. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot did say there are ‘several potential paths’ but hasn’t revealed what those are. One of them is a potential Tencent buyout.
