A new Deus Ex game on works?
According to insiders, Eidos Montreal is pitching the idea of developing a new Deus Ex franchise to its partners and publishers. But no one is willing to commit to the game development. The upcoming game will be different and won't have the typical novelty associated with the Deus Ex brand.
The Last game, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, was released in 2016 for Playstation 4 and Xbox consoles. The game also has a PC version, as it is a multi-platform game. There were also rumours regarding a new DLC release, but it was later shelved as the developers were laid off by Embracer Group. In 2022, the developers said that they were in the early stages of a new Deus Ex game and again in 2024 announced that it was cancelled.
The series was first launched in 2000 under the title Deus EX. Then its sequel, Deus Ex: Invisible War, was released in 2003, followed by Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Deus Ex: The Fall, Deus Ex Go and finally, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

The new game will be developed only after the investors and publishers agree with Eidos Montreal’s agreement. The game is known for its storyline and freedom of choice. While the first three games received high praise, the last two games were not received well by the critics. The PC version was criticized more for its bad mobile-to-computer port.
It’s been 10 years, and in this long period, many new first-person shooting games like Counter Strike have taken over the industry. So, even if they bring back the franchise, the graphics need to be perfect, with a compelling storyline. The game has sold 12 million units worldwide combined.
