Associate Director, of Design at Treyarch, Matt Scronce recently responded to a request regarding Recon Special Ability. Recently, people started complaining that the ability to see opponents through walls in Black Ops 6 for a few moments after respawn was too powerful. Their requests seem to be heard as the developer revealed an incoming nerf to the ability.

Last night, a popular streamer for FaZe Clan ‘Swagg’ also asked Treyarch to take action on Recon. To recap quickly, Recon is one of the special abilities introduced in Call of Duty (COD) Black Ops 6 connected to the perks equipped. Recon activates if a player equips three blue perks across all slots and allows them to have wall hacks for a few seconds on respawn along with a few other buffs.

Players were having a field day with this perk ability, getting multiple kills coming straight out of spawn, leaving many others confused. Players remotely decent at the game were dominating their opponents, leading to a community outcry regarding removal or nerf to the ability.

Scronce responded ‘Incoming’ which was enough to satisfy everyone knowing that a nerf of some kind is under work and will be done in the upcoming days. At the moment, there is no information regarding what kind of Nerf is coming, but many believe that the ability might be removed as even reducing the time may not make much difference.

Players have mixed reactions on the Nerf

While many were happy regarding the upcoming change, others who were having funds did not have the same reaction. Many asking why are the developers listening to streamers instead of fixing other issues like boring map rotations. Some of the players even believe that this is an effective strategy against campers in COD games.

Since the incoming Nerf is inevitable, all players can do is enjoy while this ability lasts. At the moment, Black Ops 6 is running double XP for progression and weapons, which players take advantage of to level up faster.
