Abhishek Porel, who has been keeping wickets in the previous games, was rested for the game. Tristan Stubbs for the first time this season was given the task of keeping wickets for the Capitals side. Karun Nair, who is back in the Test side, was given his recall to the side for the game on Saturday night.

Punjab Kings made two changes to their side as Australian duo Josh Inglis was back in the team. Mitchell Owen and Xavier Bartlett made way for the returning Aussie duo. PBKS also decided to rest Yuzvendra Chahal, as the veteran Indian spinner didn’t even find a place in the impact player’s list.

Shreyas Iyer and Punjab Kings looking to reach IPL points table summit

Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s loss in the last few days has made the race for the top two interesting. PBKS, currently playing their 13th game of the season, can go to the top with a win over DC in Jaipur. If Punjab wins the game, they will have 19 points with one more game against the Mumbai Indians left to play.

Speaking at the toss, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer said he wasn’t happy or content with the tournament so far. This is the first time since 2014 that PBKS has made it to the playoffs and will be aiming to win their first-ever IPL title. Iyer also asked his team to stay in the present ahead of the playoffs.

Coming back to the game, Punjab Kings lost their opener Priyansh Arya for six runs. The left-handed batter tried to hit a big shot and Stubbs settled under the ball and took the catch. Mustafizur Rahman got DC their opening wicket of the game as Faf du Plessis and his side will hope to end the season with a win.
