Lucknow Super Giants are set to take on Gujarat Titans at home in match number 26 of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Massive news coming out of the Ekana Stadium is that Mitchell Marsh isn’t part of the playing XI for the game on Saturday. According to LSG skipper Rishabh Pant, the Australian batter’s daughter isn’t well, which prompted him to miss the game.
Delhi batter Himmat Singh has been drafted into the playing XI with Shamar Joseph also featuring for the first time this season. It was Pant who won the toss and chose to field first on a wicket that looks helpful for the bowling side. Washington Sundar is back for Gujarat Titans as he makes his way into the team for pacer Kulwant Khejroliya.
In the last game against Kolkata at the Eden Gardens, LSG had scored a massive 238 on the board. Marsh had scored 81 runs, which was his fourth fifty in five innings; it is a huge blow for LSG considering the blistering form Marsh had been in. Gujarat Titans are coming into the contest having beaten Rajasthan Royals by 58 runs.
New Zealand star Glenn Phillips has been ruled out of IPL 2025 after suffering a groin injury. Phillips had suffered the injury while fielding in the game against Hyderabad when he came in as a substitute. Meanwhile, Kagiso Rabada hasn’t returned to action after flying back home due to personal reasons.
Rishabh Pant, speaking at the toss, had said, “The wicket looks good. Happy to win the last two matches. As a team, we talk about the process and the team is responding well now. Bowlers have done a really good job; we have to give credit to them.”
Titans’ skipper Shubman Gill also said that he was looking to bowl first on the track, which had a lot in for the bowlers. Gill also said that he felt the track wouldn’t change much and was looking forward to the contest. The Titans are currently top of the table with eight points from five games, while LSG are sixth in the table with six points from five games.
