The incident in question happened in the first ball of the third over when Archer got the ball to jag in. Gill was seen looking to play the drive and missed the ball which went onto hit the top of Gill’s off-stump. Gill, who had scored an unbeaten fifty in the last game was out for just two runs after facing three balls.

Sanju Samon won the toss and chose to bowl first citing dew as the reason behind the decision. Wanindu Hasaranga was replaced by Fazalhaq Farooqi for the game while the home team went into the game with an unchanged side. At the end of the powerplay overs the Titans were placed at 56 for the loss of one wicket.

Sai Sudharsan leads Gujarat onto quick start

The first over of the innings bowled by Jofra Archer yielded just a single four as Sai Sudharsan tried to pull the ball and it went over Samson’s head. Afghanistan seamer Farooqi also gave away seven runs in his opening over with Sudharsan hitting his second boundary of the game.

Archer, was bowling with good speeds as the ball which got the wicket of Gill was clocked at 147.7 KPH. In the same over, the English pacer was seen bowling close to 150 KPH to his English teammate Jos Buttler who smashed the ball for a four. Buttler, was greeted with a terrific short ball and Archer was seen engaging in verbal banter with his former skipper.

Sudharsan who was out for a low score in the last game then hit Farooqi for a six. The batter repeated the same shot in the next over against Tushar Deshpande to keep the runs flowing for GT. When the powerplay ended, Sudharsan was batting on 39 off 22 balls while Jos Buttler was on 11 runs.
