Former England Cricket team captain Michael Vaughan has indirectly lashed out at the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the scheduling of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 semi-finals. Vaughan believed that the entire tournament is geared towards the Indian team.

The statement came amid the 1st semi-final game between South Africa and Afghanistan which was played in Trinidad. In which the Proteas handed a humiliating loss to the Afghans by 9 wickets. The tricky pitch of Trinidad saw Afghanistan getting bundled out on just 56 runs while batting first. However, Vaughan believes that the reason behind this was Afghanistan not getting enough practice time for the must-win game.

According to Vaughan, Afghanistan’s flight got delayed and it was pretty hard for them to get prepared after only 1 day gap. He said that India vs England could be the 1st semi-final, however, it is known that the schedule for the tournament was pre-decided.

“Surely this Semi should have been the Guyana one .. but because the whole event is geared towards India it’s so unfair on others .. #T20IWorldCup” tweeted Vaughan.

“So Afghanistan qualified for the WC semi winning in St Vincent on Monday night .. 4 hr flight delay on Tues to Trinidad so no time to practice or get accustomed to a new venue .. utter lack of respect to players i am afraid .. #T20WorldCup2024” he added.

India vs England semi-final 2 is under rain threat

The 2nd semi-final game of the tournament which is set to be played on June 27 in Guyana have a high chance of getting interrupted by the rain. The weather forecast says that there are 80% chance of rain. There were also some images from the ground which are being circulated on the internet in which the pitch can be seen covered. Vaughan questioned this too and asked why the whole ground was not covered.
