Pakistan Cricket Team has been facing severe criticism from all corners after their embarrassing exit in the home edition of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Captain Mohammad Rizwan and interim head coach Aqib Javed are also on the receiving end of a hard-and-fast-lined criticism from the former Pakistan cricketers and the experts of the game.
Meanwhile, the national cricket team’s interim head coach Aqib Javed recently addressed a press conference after humiliating ‘Dubai Debacle’ against the arch-rivals India. Notably, the Men in Green were the first team to get eliminated from the ongoing edition of the Champions Trophy.
“It’s difficult for the new guys to tackle” – Aqib Javed
During a press conference ahead of the third and last league match against Bangladesh, Pakistan head coach Aqib Javed spoke about the reasons behind the team’s poor run of form in the tournament’s current edition.
“We lost against them (India) but when there is a lack of experience and the pressure gets to you, it’s difficult for the new guys to tackle that,” said Aqib to the journalists during the press conference.
“This Indian team was the most experienced, they have almost 1,500 games altogether and Pakistan is on the bottom, with less than 400 games. Babar Azam is the only one that has played more than 100 games, followed by Mohammed Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi, while the rest have played less than 30 games,” he added later.
Now, the ‘down and out’ Pakistan will face Bangladesh in their last league match on February 27, at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. Both teams have already been knocked out of the marquee international tournament; so, they will be eyeing a success in this game to end the tournament on a winning note.
Notably, the media reports have also learned that the current coaching staff of the Pakistan cricket team, including the interim head coach Aqib Javed is set to be sacked after the team’s dismal run in the Champions Trophy 2025.
