India under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma have reached the semi-finals of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. They defeated Bangladesh and Pakistan consecutively in the first two league matches. They will now face the Group A table-toppers New Zealand in their third and last league match of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the former India cricketer and ex-team manager, Lalchand Rajput came up with a big statement while predicting the Men in Blue’s campaign in the current prestigious cricket quadrennial. Notably, India have made it to the Champions Trophy’s semi-finals for the third consecutive time since 2013.

“I think they should win the Champions Trophy” – Lalchand Rajput

Rajput praised Rohit Sharma’s men for their convincing performances so far in the tournament, winning both matches with a comfortable and comprehensive margin.

“This Indian team looks ruthless. They try to dominate and win every game. They don't want to give the opponents a chance to come back into the game. That is the attitude. And the way they are playing, I think they should win the Champions Trophy convincingly,” said Rajput to PTI.

“So, Virat got a 100. All boxes are ticked. Now it's only up to Rohit to get a big 100. Indian team have a clear instinct that that will just finish their opponents,” he added later.

Furthermore, he also gave a reality check to India ahead of their big game against New Zealand on March 2, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

“See, in cricket, you cannot take it lightly. Every game is important because if you take one or few overs lightly, that can change the game as well. So, we have got to be at our best every time. We don't want to relax at any moment,” said Rajput who is currently active as the head coach of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) cricket team.

“Both the games India has won comfortably. But in cricket, we can't say anything, we have to take one game at a time. We don't have to take New Zealand lightly. New Zealand is a better team (than Pakistan and Bangladesh), they have also won both games and their morale is also high,” he concluded.
