Following the Delhi Capitals' (DC) decision to not keep Rishabh Pant for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Parth Jindal spoken out. Four players were kept by DC on Thursday: Kuldeep Yadav (INR 13.25 crores), Tristan Stubbs (INR 10 crores), Abhishek Porel (INR 4 crores), and Axar Patel (Rs 16.5 crores). From 2016 until 2024, Pant spent eight seasons with the Capitals. Due to various injuries sustained in an accident in December 2022, he only missed the 2023 season. Jindal claimed that the Capitals were unable to keep some players because they had to "pick strategically."
"In Axar Kuldeep, Tristan and Abhishek we have the ideal blend of experince and youth, and I am very pleased with otu retentions. I would have liked to retain more players who have turned out for Delhi Capitals, but the rules mean we have to pick strategically," Jindal said as per India Today.
Will Delhi Capitals use RTM for Rishabh Pant?
It was revealed that the discussions between Rishabh Pant and the DC ownership group did not go as expected. Pant will be put up for auction, but the Capitals can use the Right to Match (RTM) cards to buy him back. We will have two RTM cards going into the auction, which offers players who have already worn the DC shirt the opportunity to continue playing with us. “We know who we want and will make sure to get some if not all the players back," Jindal stated.
"Now that we have reached this significant milestone, the team is putting in endless effort on the mega auction. Our goal is to assemble a potent and well-rounded team capable of bringing our city the much anticipated IPL trophy," Parth Jindal continued. As of this now, Pant leads the Capitals in runs scored throughout the IPL's history. Along with Amit Mishra, he has the most caps for DC.
