Rumours and reports were circulating in anticipation of the Indian Premier League 2025 season's retention day. Fans finally found out which elite players stayed with their teams and who would be going for bidding. A formal announcement will be made at the end of the day to confirm, but some unexpected entries are creating more excitement than others as possible additions to the Indian Premier League 2025 big auction.

There will undoubtedly be several well-known figures among those who will have a tough time due to losing their place in the IPL. With his remarkable form since his return, Rishabh Pant has been in the news. He is set to go to the auction block for the next season. Given that the Delhi Capitals decided to not retain Pant, the ace batsman-wicketkeeper will probably be one of the high-profile players at the 2025 IPL mega auction. Not all members of the leadership group, according to accounts, supported him staying captain, though.

Shreyas Iyer to leave to salary problem

Among the noteworthy conversations from the previous IPL season were those involving KL Rahul and the Lucknow Super Giants, particularly in relation to their performance problems that garnered a lot of attention on social media. According to reports, Sanjiv Goenka, the team's owner, was not thrilled with the team's performance. This led to rumors that he and Rahul were at odds, and footage of Goenka acting rudely toward the captain went viral.

One of the more unexpected names in the retention talks is Shreyas Iyer, particularly after his productive time as captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). After guiding KKR to their third IPL championship in 2024, his nearly certain departure as a result of unsuccessful wage negotiations has drawn criticism. The squad's recent success was largely attributed to Iyer's leadership and tactical skills, so the team suffered a great loss when he was left off the retention list.
