The second Test match between India and Bangladesh has begun on Friday at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal took a smart low catch to help the home team get the first wicket of the day.
After 8 wicketless overs, Rohit Sharma decided to bring Akash Deep into the attack. In the third ball of the 9th over, the 28-year-old got the edge of Zakir Hasan’s bat. Jaiswal, who was fielding in gully took a low catch. The ball was traveling at good speed but the Indian youngster showed great reflexes.
The umpires decided to send for the decision as the TV umpire deemed that the catch was clean. This gave India their 1st wicket of the day as Zakir Hasan was out for a duck after facing 24 balls. Bangladesh batted well to negotiate the early tricky conditions after Rohit Sharma had won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Yashasvi Jaiswal continues to impress with his catching
The young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been impressing everyone with his amazing fielding in the slips. The 22-year-old pulled off a stunning catch during the second innings off the first game in Chennai as well.
Indian fielding coach T. Dilip lauded the youngster at the end of the game. “It was one of the best you could have seen. Towards his non-dominant side, a really low ball dipping in and he is running forward and the ball dipping fast, he took it with one hand, it was an blinder of a catch, especially for a gully fielder.”
The young fielder completed his 12th catch in Test cricket with the grab of Zakir Hasan on Friday. In Chennai, Jaiswal had also taken a smart catch during the final day of the game to give R. Ashwin a crucial wicket.
India struck for a second time when Akash Deep had Shadman Islam out LBW for 24. Ther Bangladeshi batter batted for 36 balls and hit four boundaries during his stint. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Ashwin had gone wicketless after India bowled first after winning the toss. If India win this Test they will be just 3 wins away from securing the top 2 spot in the WTC table.
