Bangladeshi batters came out with determination to blunt the Indian bowlers on Day 4 of the Chennai Test. However, R. Ashwin and Yashasvi Jaiswal combined well to get the home their first wicket of the day. Shakib Al Hasan was batting on 25 when he played a forward defensive shot.

Yashasvi Jaiswal went down well as he pulled off a low catch. Indian fielders were relieved as the first wicket of the day came at the right time. Shakib Al Hasan and Najmul Shanto had frustrated the home team bowlers to 48 runs. The 5th wicket stand came off 18 overs to keep team India bowlers at bay.

Litton Das was the next to fall when he edged a ball from Ravindra Jadeja to the first slip. Rohit Sharma stayed low and took a sharp catch to send back Litton Das for 1. India now needs just 4 wickets to win and take 1-0 lead in the series.

R. Ashwin goes past Courtney Walsh in special list

Indian bowling ace R. Ashwin got to his 520th Test wicket after dismissing Shakib Al Hasan. The wicket also meant that Ashwin went past West Indian legend Courtney Walsh who has 519 Test wickets. The 38-year-old then bowled well to claim a fifer. It was an historic performance after his century in the first innings.

After going wicketless in the 1st innings, Ashwin was at his best with the ball in front og his home fans. Ravindra Jadeja, on the other hand, was creating problems for the Bangladeshi batters with his turn and bounce. The left-arm spinner nearly had Shakib stumped but Rishabh Pant missed the chance.

Najmul Shanto, meanwhile, kept the fight going as he was batting well past 70. The left-handed batter was steadfast in a intense battle with Mohammed Siraj. The Indian pacer wasn’t short of words but the Bangladeshi skipper didn’t respond as he had smile on his face.

Ashwin got India their 7th wicket when he had the wicket of Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The Bangladeshi spinner went for a huge hit and saw Jadeja settle under the ball and take an easy catch. India went bundled up the vistors at a score of 234, claiming a 280-run win.
