Indian batter Virat Kohli’s horrendous tour of Australia ended with his dismissal for just six runs. The 36-year-old came to bat after Yashasvi Jaiswal's dismissal. Kohli had been dismissed for 17 in the first innings by Scott Boland.

It was the veteran pacer who did the damage yet again as his delivery outside the off-stump took Kohli’s edge. Steve Smith made no mistake as he clung onto the catch and Kohli was out nicking the ball behind the wicket for the 8th time in the series. He had a disgusted look on his face as soon as he was out and made his way back to the hut.

The 36-year-old had scored a century in the second innings of the Perth Test match. There were hopes that this was the return to form for the former India skipper who had endured a tough time with the bat during the home season.

Australian bowlers strike back to leave game evenly poised

India came out to bat in the second innings with a slender lead of four runs. Australia were bowled out for 181 with Beau Webster scoring 57 runs. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna picked 3 wickets each while Jasprit Bumrah and Nitish Reddy took two wickets apiece.

Yashasvi Jaiswal began with four boundaries in a single over by Starc to give the visitors a great start. KL Rahul also seemed to be in an aggressive mindset as he hit 13 runs from 20 balls to add 42 runs for the opening wicket. The introduction of Scott Boland changed the game when he castled Rahul and then got the wicket of Jaiswal for 22.

After the fall of Virat Kohli, the next man to be dismissed was Shubman Gill. The 25-year-old batter came down the track and tried to smash Beau Webster across the line. The debutant got the edge of Gill’s bat and Alex Carey took an easy catch. Gill was out for 13 from 15 balls with the help of two fours.
