The series of controversial decisions by the 3rd umpires continues as Virat Kohli was declared out on a no-ball by Harshit Rana in the ongoing match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. In the 2nd over, Rana bowled a bouncer, which landed at chest height of Kohli, who was standing just outside the crease.

Shocked by the bouncer, Virat played the ball towards the bowler who happened to take the catch, and the former RCB skipper was declared out. Due to confusion, the on-field umpire went for a review, which turned out to be in KKR's favor. However, Kohli wasn't pleased about the decision since the ball was above his waistline.

This was a highly controversial decision as the ball seemed to be way above the waistline. Even though the trajectory was shown, which proved that the ball was dripping down the line, Virat was standing outside the crease, so the decision went against him. Moreover, as per the commentators, it was a fair decision, but this has caused a debate among the cricket fraternity.

Kolkata Knight Riders' domination over Royal Challengers Bengaluru continues

Having won the toss, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis chose to field first, inviting the hosts to bat on a hot summer afternoon. After the KKR openers Phil Salt and Sunil Narine departed within the powerplay, the decision seemed correct to a certain extent. However, the middle-order batters, including captain Shreyas Iyer, had other plans this time. They teamed together to score 222 runs at the loss of six wickets.

While Iyer scored a beautiful half-century, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, and Ramandeep Singh played short cameos. Once again, the opposition thrashed RCB's bowling attack, and they were clueless about what was happening around them. Even though the bowlers were smashed, Yash Dayal and Cameron Green managed to take two wickets each.
