Australia made a strong comeback on the opening day of the second Test match at Adelaide on Friday. At the end of the 1st session, India were reduced to 82/4 from 23 overs of play. Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant were batting on one and four runs, respectively. Earlier, there was a hilarious moment with Virat Kohli in the opening session of the game.
Scott Boland came in to bowl and seemingly got the edge of KL Rahul’s bat. Australian players began celebrating with Rahul walking back to the hut. Kohli nearly made his way out to the field to replace the opening batter. The umpire, though, gave Rahul a huge reprieve as Boland had overstepped and it was a no-ball. Kohli was sent back to the dugout by the umpire as Indian fans cheered Rahul getting a second chance to bat.

What made it more interesting was that Rahul hadn’t edged the ball which carried to wicketkeeper Alex Carey. Had it been a legitimate delivery, the 32-year-old would have been back in the hut despite not nicking the ball. India’s opener had chosen to not review the call, but the no-ball from Boland ultimately saved him.
Mitchell Starc rips through India’s batting order
Yashasvi Jaiswal faced Australian seamer Mitchell Starc and was dismissed on the 1st ball of the game. Starc bowled a fuller ball that Jaiswal missed and was given out LBW. Both Indian openers contemplated going for the review but decided against it.
Shubman Gill came out to bat and added 69 runs for the 2nd wicket in 18.3 overs. Both batters played a few delightful shots for boundaries. Usman Khawaja gave Rahul yet another life when he dropped him in the slips. Having got a good a star the visiting side were dominating proceedings going into the break.
Mitchell Starc then had Rahul caught by Nathan McSweeney for 37 off 64 balls. The ball took the edge of India’s opening batter as McSweeney swooped low to take a smart catch. In his next over, Starc got the big scalp of Virat Kohli who was caught in the slips by Steven Smith for just 7 runs. Shubman Gill was the last wicket to fall LBW to Scott Boland for 31 off 51 balls with five fours.
