Young batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi wrote his name in history books after his amazing century on Monday night. The 14-year-old Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter smashed a 35-ball ton against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2025 game. This century made Suryavanshi the youngest to achieve the feat in T20 cricket, the fastest Indian century maker in IPL history.

Speaking to the league's official channel, Suryavanshi said, “Whatever I am today is because of my parents. My mother had to sacrifice her sleep to make sure that I got to practice on time and also cooked food for me. My father was also giving me a lot of support by quitting his job and my big brother took responsibility.”

The 14-year-old also said, “We also faced a lot of hardships in running the house. My father though stood by me and kept giving me the belief that ‘you can do it’. So, God has been kind and my hard work has paid off. Whatever results you see on the field is because of my parents and the credit goes to them.”

Rajasthan Royals notch up much needed win

Chasing 210 runs to win the game, RR saw Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal add 166 runs for the first wicket in just under 12 overs. This was also the best first-wicket stand for RR in IPL history; Suryavanshi first hit Ishant Sharma for 28 runs in an over. This was followed by his onslaught on Karim Janat, who was hit for 30 runs.

RR skipper Riyan Parag, speaking to the host broadcasters at the end of the game, lavished praise on his team’s young batting sensation. Incidentally, at the age of 14 years and 32 days, Suryavanshi became the youngest batter to score an IPL fifty. Riyan Parag was the previous record holder, having scored his fifty at 17 years 175 days.

Riyan Parag said, “It was incredible. We spent 2 months with him and seen what we can do. And to do it against world-class bowlers against GT, words can't express.” Young batting sensation Suryavanshi was given man of the match for his efforts and said, “It is a very good feeling. It's my first hundred in the IPL and it's my third innings. The result has shown here after the practice before the tournament”.
