The third game of the Champions One Day Cup 2024 tournament saw the Panthers take on the Dolphins on Saturday. It was the Panthers side, led by Shadab Khan, that won the game by 32 runs. The incident that caught everyone's attention was when Usama Mir and Haider Ali nearly injured themselves during the game due to a comedic piece of fielding.

Mohammad Hasnain bowled a bouncer to Dolphins skipper Saud Shakeel in the final ball of the 28th over. The left-handed batter was beaten for pace as he looked to pull the ball but only got a top edge of the ball.

Usama Mir and Haider Ali both came running towards the ball in a bid to take the catch. While the catch was completed, Usama Mir saw Haider Ali lying on the floor in pain. Replays showed that a lack of communication between the two stars saw Haider Ali collide with Usama Mir. In the end, both the players were safe without any injury.

Usman Khan and Mohammad Hasanin lead Panthers to easy win over Dolphins

Batting first, the Panthers lost their openers Saim Ayub and Abdul Bangalzai early. Both the wickets were accounted for by Mir Hamza. Umar Siddiq scored 30 off 39 before being run out by Asif Ali. Mubashir Khan scored five runs as he fell to Faheem Ashraf caught by Saud Shakeel.

Haider Ali and Usman Khan then added 103 runs for the 5th wicket. The stand was raised in 79 balls as the two batters showed aggressive intent. Abbas Afridi broke the partnership when he castled Haider Ali for 63. Skipper Shadab Khan and Usman Khan then added 61 further runs for the 5th wicket.

Usman Khan was the top scorer for the Panthers with 111 off 110 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes. Shadab Khan scored 65 off 45 balls to signal his return to form. Usama Mir scored 22 off 11 balls towards the end to the Panthers post 328 on the board.

In reply, the Dolphins were bowled out for 278 to lose the game by 5 wickets. Mohammad Hasnain was the star with the ball for the Panthers. The 24-year-old picked 5/74 from 10 overs with one maiden over. The best batter for the Dolphins was Qasim Akram who scored 65 while batter Shahibzada Farhan scored 52 off 69 balls at the top of the order.
