Mohammad Rizwan led Markhors beat the Panthers by 160 runs to begin the Pakistan Champions Cup in style. Some of the biggest names in Pakistan cricket are playing in the five-team tournament which began on Thursday. 

Fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain bowled a terrific ball to dismiss Markhors captain Rizwan. The incident happened in the 3rd ball of the 34th over when Hasnain bowled a full ball to Rizwan. The Markhors captain nearly lost his balance as the ball hit the pads. The umpire had no hesitation in giving Rizwan who was out for 45 runs.

Champions Cup ODI tournament is an initiative by the Pakistan Cricket Board to keep their top stars ready for the huge season ahead. Just a few weeks ago the Pakistani cricket team lost their first-ever home Test series at home to Bangladesh with 2-0 margin.

Kamran Ghulam leads Markhors to huge win over Panthers 

Shadab Khan, the Panthers skipper won the toss and chose to bowl first. Fakhar Zaman fell early after scoring 17 while fellow opener Mohammad Faizan scored 34. Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Rizwan then joined forces to add 133 runs for the 3rd the wicket. 

The stand came in 121 balls before Rizwan was out for 45 off 57 balls with 3 sixes. The star with the bat for Markhors was Kamran Ghulam who scored 115. The 29-year-old got his runs from a mere 102 balls with 12 fours and 3 sixes. 

Iftikhar Ahmed and Abdul Samad then added 87 runs for the 6th wicket in just 39 balls. Abdul Samad smashed the bowlers to all parts of the ground to score 62 off 25 balls with 4 boundaries and 6 sixes. Veteran star Iftikhar Ahmed was not out on 57 off 44 balls with 7 fours and a six. 

Chasing 348 to win, the Panthers were all out for 187 in the 35th over. Opener Saim Ayub scored 20 before he out LBW to Akif Javed. Naseem Shah then dismissed Abdul Bangalzai, Usman Khan, and Haider Ali to reduce the Panthers to 41/5. 

Amad Butt top scored for the Panthers with 72 off 84 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes. His innings ended when Zahid Mahmood went through his defenses. Both Naseem Shah and Akif Javed picked 3 wickets each while Shahnawaz Dahani picked 2 wickets. The game on Friday will witness Babar Azam in action as the Lions take on Stallions.
