WATCH: Umpire intervenes to cool down Abhishek Sharma who was given send off by Pakistani player during Emerging Asia Cup 2024 tournament

India’s emerging side beat Pakistan by 7 runs to start their Emerging Asia Cup tournament in style. Abhishek Sharma was involved in a heated moment during the game which needed the umpires and fellow players to cool down the situation. 

The incident in question occurred in the first ball of the seventh over. Sufiyan Muqeem was bowling to the left-handed batter who holed out to Qasim Akram. After dismissing the batter, Muqeem was seen gesturing to the batter to head back to the pavilion which irked Abhishek Sharma.

As soon as the gesture was made the batter turned to the bowler and exchanged a few words with him. Before the situation could get out of hand, umpires and other Pakistani fielders came around to cool down the situation. 

India romps home to easy win against Pakistan 

It was India who batted first and scored 183/8 from their 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh batted well to add 68 runs for the opening wicket in 6 overs. Sharma was out after scoring 35 off 22 balls while Singh scored 36 off 19 balls. 

Skipper Tilak Varma was the best batter with 44 runs off 35 balls which included 2 fours and 2 sixes. Nehal Wadhera batted well to score 25 off 22 balls before he was bowled by Sufiyan Muqeem. For Pakistan, the best bowler was Muqeem who picked 2/28 from his 4 overs. 

Pakistan skipper Mohammad Haris got off the mark with a six but was out in the very next ball. Anshul Kamboj kept his cool as Haris attempted a paddle and saw his leg stump fly out of the ground. 

Yasir Khan batted well to score 33 off 21 balls before Ramandeep Singh held onto a terrific catch to dismiss the batter. The best batter for Pakistan was Arafat Minhas with 41 runs from 29 balls. Abdul Samad tried his best to push his team to a win with 15-ball 25 runs. 

Indian bowlers kept their cool as they eked out the win by 7 runs. Anshul Kamboj was the best bowler with 3/33 from his 4 overs. Nishant Sindhu bowled just 2 overs and picked 2/15 while Rasikh Dar Salam picked 2/30 from his 4 overs.
