Mumbai Indians (MI) could score a mere 155 on the board in their IPL 2025 game against Gujarat Titans (GT). The onus of doing well with the ball rested on the shoulders of Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult. The veteran New Zealand seamer got MI their first wicket of the game in the second ball of his opening over of the game.Β

The left-arm seamer bowled a brilliant delivery that moved past the batter to begin the over. In the very next ball, Boult bowled a similar ball but this time, Sai Sudharsan edged the ball behind to give Ryan Rickelton an easy catch. Hardik Pandya was chuffed after the wicket as he was celebrating with Sudharsan walking back to the hut for five runs.Β

Will Jacks scored his first IPL fifty for MI and added 71 runs for the third wicket with Suryakumar Yadav. Once the pair fell, the home team lost their shape with the bat as their middle order failed to deliver.Β Corbin Bosch scored 27 off 22 balls, which included two sixes, to take Mumbai to a decent score on the board.Β

Gujarat battle the conditions to get off to steady startΒ

The first over of the second innings bowled by Deepak Chahar produced six runs, which included a brilliant four off Sudharsan’s bat. Trent Boult gave away just three runs from his opening over as GT were nine for one after two overs. Just then a strong gusty wind with little rain was seen but the game continued.Β

Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler battled the conditions as Mumbai bowlers kept things tight. After five overs, the visitors had scored 21 runs for the loss of one wicket with the conditions favouring the bowlers. Buttler played a scoop shot to get the sixth over off and running with a six. At the end of six overs, GT had reached 29 runs for the loss of one wicket.Β

Hardik Pandya came on to bowl the eighth over and saw 18 runs being scored as the Titans came back into the game. Pandya bowled two no-balls and two wide balls and one of the free hits went for six. This was the much-needed pressure break for the Titans to get back into the game. Β
