Mumbai Indians’ (MI) batting for the first time after six games failed to come to the fore in the IPL 2025 game against Gujarat Titans (GT). The home scored 155 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 12th game of the season. South African pacer Corbin Bosch gave the much-needed impetus with the bat as he scored 27 runs from 22 balls. Prasidh Krishna was tasked with job of bowling the final over of the innings.

The first ball of the over saw Bosch hit the pacer straight over the square-leg region for a six. In the very next ball, Bosch turned into a left-handed batter as the bowler was about the deliver. Bosch smashed a fine reverse scoop for six to help MI get close to the 150-run mark. In the next ball, the pacer bowled a short ball that hit Bosch on the helmet which required medical attention.

This short break seemed to have done the trick for the visitors as Bosch was run-out while going for a second run. The batter scored his 27 runs off just 22 balls with one four and two huge sixes. Deepak Chahar gave MI fans something to cheer about as he hit the last ball for four runs to help the home team reach 155 runs on the board.

Will Jacks’ fifty provides lone bright spark for MI batting

Having been put into bat first, Mumbai lost Rohit Sharma for seven caught by Krishna off Arshad Khan. Mohammed Siraj struck in the very first over when he had Ryan Rickelton caught by Sai Sudharsan for two runs. In the powerplay overs, GT fielders dropped three key catches including the chances of Will Jacks twice and Suryakumar Yadav once.

Jacks and Yadav then added 71 runs for the third wicket in 43 balls to pressure on the Titans bowlers. Yadav was finally out for 35 when he holed to Shah Rukh Khan and give Kishore his first wicket of the day. Rashid Khan then struck to dismiss Jacks for 53 which came off 35 balls with five boundaries and three sixes.

Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir scored seven runs each while Hardik Pandya was out for just one run. At one stage it looked like MI wont cross 140 runs on the board but Corbin Bosch turned out to be the savior with the bat in a key contest at this stage of IPL 2025.
