A few run-outs in the second game of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) season between the Texas Super Kings and MI New York in California felt like they were played in a European village cricket match. Professional cricket standards were scarcely represented in the dismissals of Kieron Pollard and Trent Boult on Friday, June 13.
The pursuit of 186, MI New York lost three wickets to run-outs. Kieron Pollard took on Daryl Mitchell as MI was cruising toward the goal. In the first four deliveries of the 17th over, Pollard hammered the New Zealand all-rounder for three fours and a six. However, on the sixth delivery, the former skipper of the West Indies was run out.

Pollard failed to make good contact when he tried to heave a full-length delivery. Inside the 30-yard circle on the leg side, the ball bounced off his pads and into space. He started walking idly in the direction of the non-striker's end in search of a single. Daryl Mitchell smashed the non-striker's stumps directly after fielding the ball off his bowling.

Texas Super Kings defeated MI New York
Pollard didn't realize Mitchell was on to the ball fast until midway through the run. He was run out for 32 off 16 balls, but it was too late by the time he quickened his pace. MI New York fell from 141 for 4 to 159 for 6 in the span of an over after losing Monank Patel for 62 (44) on the very next delivery.
Trent Boult's runout in the 19th over brought the chaotic rushing between the wickets to a climax. A rather strange mix-up with Tajinder Dhillon led to the New Zealand fast bowler giving up his wicket. MI. After losing their MLC 2025 opener against the Texas Super Kings by three runs, New York finally paid for their careless running. They only lost seven of their remaining wickets for 61 runs. MI New York's next game is Sunday, June 15, against the San Francisco Unicorns in California.
