Star Australia batter Travis Head has been in the headlines of the cricketing world for his sensational batting performances across all formats of the game. Head has left everyone awestruck with his amazing batting approach and stroke-making abilities. Apart from his batting, the Aussie star also plays a crucial role with the ball at the spin-friendly tracks in the sub-continent.
The same was seen when Head took charge with the ball against Sri Lanka on the first day of the ongoing second Test in Galle. He was introduced into the attack by stand-in skipper Steve Smith in the 46th over of the first innings. Head didn’t disappoint his skipper and scalped the wicket of star middle-order batter Kamindu Mendis to give a big blow to Sri Lanka.
It was on the sixth and last ball of the 46th over when Head trapped Mendis in a fourth-stump delivery outside the off stump. The Sri Lankan batter tried to punch it from the crease but ended up giving a thick edge of his bat before the ball went into the hands of skipper Steve Smith in the first slip.
Immediately after the dismissal of Kamindu Mendis, what attracted the eyeballs was the ‘hot hand’ celebration of Travis Head. The video of his celebration also went viral over social media as soon as it was shared by a user on X (formerly Twitter).
