In the ongoing 3rd Test match between England and Sri Lanka at the Kennington Oval, London, the hosts had a tough time out on the field. However, only one good thing happened to England on day four: the wicket of Kusal Mendis and the catch taken by Shoaib Bashir. Mendis was playing on 39 runs when Gus Atkinson banged in a short ball on the middle leg.
He misjudged the ball and went on to hit it, but the ball kept low and went toward deep square leg. Bashir ran toward the ball effortlessly and took the stunner. That was the most important breakthrough for England as Mendis and Pathum Nissanka smashed the bowlers throughout the game.

After performing outstandingly in the 1st and 2nd Test matches, England struggled to take wickets on day 4. The visitors made the Three Lions taste their own medicine of 'Bazball' as they batted with a good pace and finished the game quickly.
Pathum Nissanka smashes century against England
In a drastic turn of events, Sri Lanka's opener, Pathum Nissanka, smashed a brilliant century against England in the 3rd Test match. He hit the ton in 107 balls, including 11 boundaries and one six. Nissanka built the team's foundation from one end and kept on hitting good balls, which helped them lower the bowlers' confidence.
The century came at such a good time which helped Sri Lanka beat England in their own home ground. Nissanka and Mendis stayed on the crease for quite a long time and built a beautiful partnership. After Mendis' wicket, Angelo Mathews handled the innings from the other end along with Nissanka and scored 32 runs off 61 balls.
