Bangladeshi batter Towhid Hridoy battled the odds and conditions in Dubai to score a terrific century. The feat was achieved against India in the second match of Group A in Champions Trophy 2025. Hridoy got to his century off 114 balls with the help of six boundaries and two sixes. Earlier in the innings, Hardik Pandya had dropped an easy chance to give Hridoy a huge second lease of life with the bat.
The sapping in heat in Dubai had Hridoy down on his haunches on more than one occasion. It was the maiden ODI century for the 24-year-old batter who was his 34th match in this format of the game. Bangladesh were all out for 228 with Harshit Rana taking the last wicket of Hridoy for 100.

Veteran seamer Mohammed Shami announced his return to form with a fine fifer. The 34-year-old finished with figures of 5/53 from his ten overs. This was the second-best bowling figure for India in Champions Trophy history. Ravindra Jadeja who is playing his 200th game on Thursday holds the best figures with 5/36 against West Indies during the 2013 edition.
Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali power Bangladesh to 228
Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Bangladesh were in huge trouble at one stage. The score read 35/5 inside nine overs and it seemed the game was headed for an early finish. Team India though exhibited poor fielding with few simple dropped chances. Axar Patel had removed Tanzid Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim to put himself on the cusp of a hattrick.
Rohit Sharma dropped an easy catch and smashed the ground with his fists as the bowler was in complete shock. Shami had earlier dismissed Soumya Sarkar for a duck and Mehidy Hasan Miraz for five to pick three early wickets. Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali then added 154 runs for the sixth wicket in 205 balls. That stand was broken when Shami had Jaker Ali caught by Virat Kohli for 68.
Rishad Hossain struck 18 off 14 balls with one four and two sixes to take Bangladesh past 200. Harshit Rana deceived Hossain with his slower one as he was caught by Hardik Pandya. Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Taskin Ahmed then fell to Shami to give his fifth wicket of the innings.
