Axar Patel missed out on a hattrick against Bangladesh in the second game of the Champions Trophy 2025. As he came to bowl in the ninth over, he claimed two back-to-back wickets on the second and third balls of the over. However, on the fourth ball, captain Rohit Sharma dropped a sitter in the slips, denying Axar his hattrick. The skipper was seen beating his hand on the ground after dropping the catch. Immediately after the incident, Rohit apologized to the bowler for his irresponsibility.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh are having a tough time against the Indian bowlers, as half of the team is back in the pavilion. Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana drew the early blood, while Axar Patel came in as a nightmare for the batters. The bowlers are enjoying the conditions in Dubai, and it looks like it will be an easy win for the Men in Blue.

Mohammed Shami makes incredible comeback in Champions Trophy
After missing international cricket for more than a year, Mohammed Shami made a stellar comeback to the team. His performance wasn't that great against England in the ODI series but in the ongoing Champions Trophy, he wreaked havoc on the Bangladesh batters. He took the first wicket, giving an important breakthrough to the team.
The batters found him difficult to read, which is good news for the Indian team. On the other hand, Axar Patel claimed two consecutive wickets, breaking the backbone of the batting order. However, Jaker Ali and Towhid Hridoy are sweating it out on the crease for the team. After losing five early wickets, these two batters are trying hard to get the team past a good total.
